[[[p]]]Almost 150 years old, Saggahew Lodge is hardly an "old" lodge. We have a rich history but are focused on the future. Our youthful and energetic group of officers and members are committed to the tenets of Freemasonry and dedicated to bettering themselves and the communities in which they live. [[[br /]]][[[br /]]]Near the end of the Civil War, there was a great surge in the number of men who desired to become Freemasons. In early 1865, Merrimack Lodge of Haverhill petitioned the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts to form a second lodge in the city, and later that year Saggahew Lodge was formed. [[[br /]]][[[br /]]]Our meetings are held the third Monday of each month and are filled with the usual business of our lodge, good food and fellowship. During the course of any given year, our brothers enjoy a few good social occasions, some that are for Masons only, but many others that include our families as well, such as Ladies Night, the children's holiday party, as well as the annual Master's Family Cookout. Major community events in which Saggahew participates include the Haverhill Christmas Stroll, Haverhill Kidsfest and the annual V.F.W. Santa Parade in Haverhill. [[[br /]]][[[br /]]]Most importantly, we have many charity programs in which we partake such as Red Cross blood drives, MYCHIP (Masonic Youth Child Identification Program) events, clothing drives and scholarship programs, just to name a few.
