Middlesex Lodge was Chartered on June 9, 1795, by M.W. Paul Revere, Grand Master of Masons in Massachusetts, 1795-1797. It is one of 23 Lodges within the United States founded by Revere. While Paul Revere is most famous for his Midnight Ride, warning of the start of the Revolutionary War, he was also a renowned silver and copper smith (responsible for the copper fastenings on the hull of the “USS Constitution,” famously known as “Old Ironsides”). Not only a transcendent figure in the early history of the United States, Paul Revere was also a very significant contributor to Masonry in the New World, and described his election as Grand Master of the Massachusetts Grand Lodge as “The greatest happiness of his life.”[[[br /]]][[[br /]]]We are one of the oldest Lodges in the state, and our Lodge’s history is steeped in the Colonial American era. Besides have Revere’s signature on our charter, Jonathan Maynard – our first Master (presiding officer) – was also a historical figure who played a critical role in the Revolutionary War.[[[br /]]][[[br /]]]Besides being one of the oldest Lodges, we are one of the few that still have our original Charter. During the Morgan Affair when many charters were destroyed, we hid ours locally. When it was safe to bring it back out in the open, it was retrieved and framed; it is still being used in the lodge today.[[[br /]]][[[br /]]]Our Lodge has a membership made up of a rich variety of established and new members. They are a varied group in their professional lives as well as their religious beliefs. We have worked hard to make sure Middlesex Lodge appeals to a modern generation while keeping our rich historical traditions. The common bond among our members is the sentiment that Middlesex Lodge is a place where a Brother can find a friendly family.[[[br /]]][[[br /]]]Middlesex Lodge  seeks to provide a strong fraternal experience for its Brothers, their families, friends, and the community by supporting, imparting and nurturing various improvement, growth and enrichment experiences. We value the primary Masonic teaching of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth, and hold high esteem for the values of Family, Friendship, and Charity.[[[br /]]][[[br /]]]The future of Middlesex Lodge is bright and positive. Any man of good character who believes in a Supreme Being in the Metrowest region of Massachusetts who would like to contribute to a society with a long history is invited to learn more.
