[[[p align=justify]]]Union Lodge is located on Main Street of the island of Nantucket. Roughly thirty miles off the coast of Massachusetts, we can only be reached by boat or plane. The lodge was Instituted 1771 and held its first communication on May 9 of that year.[[[/p]]][[[p align=justify]]]The Lodge has occupied various buildings and locations before its current location. Our emblems in the current Lodge room were found behind a wall in another building during a renovation. Fortunately, the workers recognized what they had uncovered to be Masonic in nature and contacted Brothers of Lodge. The Brethren immediately gathered enough members to remove the plaster and lathe section of wall containing the hand painted emblems. This section of plaster and lathe wall is now a focal point in the current lodge room and is used for the emblem lecture. The craftsmen that originally constructed it are unknown but their dedication to the craft and attention to detail have stood the test of time. It is a beautiful addition to the current Lodge and is a testament to Masons everywhere.[[[/p]]][[[p align=justify]]]Membership is currently on a upswing as men have rediscovered Masonry. Our Lodge has members that span all generations. Lodge members are ever vigilant for new potential members. Masonry continues to thrive at Union Lodge 242 years after three men started it.
