Robert Vincent Jolly, Jr. of Swampscott is the Business Operations Manager for the Grand Lodge of Masons of Massachusetts. He served as our Deputy Grand Master for the 2012 year.
As the Business Operations Manager, Jolly is responsible for overseeing the Grand Lodge’s day-to-day operations, and managing the Boston Masonic Building.
Raised in the North Shore communities of Lynn, Swampscott, and Marblehead, Jolly graduated from Marblehead High School. He attended Northeastern University at night while working full-time, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering Technology.
He worked for the Marblehead Municipal Light Department for 34 years. Beginning as a diesel operator, Jolly progressed from operations to system support and to management. For 17 years he served as General Manager, overseeing a $15 million budget generated entirely from its operations. The Department annually returned a net gain to the town. He retired in April of 2012.
As a volunteer, Jolly served on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Company; the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Northeast Public Power Association; and, the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the American Public Power Association. He was President of the Municipal Electric Association of Massachusetts. For six years, Jolly was a member of the Swampscott Finance Committee.
