On Saturday, June 7, the Westwood Masonic Building was filled with gratitude, community spirit, and the savory aroma of a hot breakfast as local Freemasons hosted a First Responder And Military Appreciation Breakfast to honor the service and sacrifice of our region’s firefighters, police officers, veterans, and military personnel.

Brothers of the 6th District customized omlettes.

Attendees included public safety professionals and veterans from Westwood and surrounding towns. Guests were treated to a full breakfast spread featuring scrambled eggs, toast, customized omelets, bacon, sausages, and fresh coffee, all prepared and served by members of the local Freemasons. Every veteran received a special veterans pin, and every first responder received a first responder pin.

The morning’s program was highlighted by a special guest appearance from the Deputy Chief Engagement Officer from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Veterans Services, who shared updates on the HERO Act—a legislative initiative designed to provide enhanced support,  benefits, and services to Massachusetts veterans. The Deputy Chief spoke about new proposals under the act that aim to improve healthcare access, housing stability, and job opportunities for those who have served.

“This breakfast is just one way we show appreciation for the selfless service of our local heroes,” said a representative of the lodge. “We’re also proud to shine a light on meaningful legislation like the HERO Act that reinforces our community’s commitment to veterans and their Families.”

The Freemasons remain deeply committed to service, fellowship, and giving back to those who safeguard our communities and freedoms. The event offered a space for camaraderie, conversation, and recognition—hallmarks of the Masonic tradition.

We express our appreciation for Celestial, Orient, Prospect, Union and West Roxbury-Dorchester Lodges of the 6th Masonic District, which sponsored the event. A special thanks to Rt. Wor. Glenn Kubick, Wors. Robert Khouri, Quinton Blanchard, Robert Matthews, Ernest Margeson, Eric Meyer-Curley, Bros. Paul Matthews and Eric Narcisso, as well as Paul Matthews Jr. and Sarg, our dog guardian, who were instrumental in organizing and implementing this event.
