The Festive Board at Waltham Triad celebrates Rt. Wor. Bogos Peligian.

Every once in a while, you meet someone in Freemasonry with a larger-than-life presence. M. Wor. Stanley F. Maxwell may have been a member of and head of more Masonic bodies than anyone else. M. Wor. Richard J. Stewart may have held more Grand Lodge offices than anyone else. But this can occur at any level.

One such instance may be Rt. Wor. Bogos Willis Peligian. Affectionately known as “Bogie” to all, he may have belonged to more lodges, and been organist at more lodges, than anyone else. Bro. Peligian passed away in January at age 98 and left behind a record of being a member of, or organist in, almost 30 lodges.

And yet, he was an unassuming, mild-mannered, loveable Brother who brought a smile to everyone he met. His musical talents lit up many lodge rooms. He never sought reward or fame, but it found him anyway.

His express wish was that there be no public wake or funeral. And in lieu of flowers, he asked that donations be made to the Brotherhood Fund. On February 2, one of his lodges, Waltham Triad, held a memorial festive board in his honor. This did not violate his wishes as it was a family gathering with his Brothers and not a public event. All present were pleased to honor his memory. Almost a dozen Brethren rose to tell their story about Bogie. The words that were repeated most were mentor, joyful, coach, but most of all, humble. Rest in peace, Bogie.
