By Wor. Paul Hanson
The Scouters Lodge was present at The Walker Memorial on Saturday, May 31, 2025, in honoring the Grand Master’s father, Bro. George W. Hamilton, for his 57 years in Scouting and as an honorary member of The Scouters Lodge. The lodge has been involved in making a yearly donation to The Walker Memorial. The full ceremony was filmed by North Brookfield MA Local Public Access Cable.

The Grand Master’s father, Bro. George W. Hamilton’s scouting history was recounted during the memorial as follows:
Bro. George W. Hamilton joined Troop 133 in Whitinsville in 1941 at the age of 14. In those days, the troop was given a small island by the Whitin Machine Works where they built a cabin to hold meetings and were able to canoe out and camp as patrols. He attended summer camp at Treasure Valley and he earned the Star rank before becoming an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 133.
He joined Troop 101 in Northborough in 1979 and remained active there for the rest of his life. His son and two grandsons became Eagle Scouts in Troop 101 and he was made an honorary life member of the Troop in 2009.
Altogether, George was involved in Scouting for over 57 years. In addition, he was a member of the Scouters Lodge in Holden. His son and grandsons are members of the lodge, carrying on the family tradition. Each year, the lodge donates funds to the local council to cover the cost of producing The Walker Memorial program.
