Update: Non-Essential Businesses Closed

By Grand Lodge |

From the desk of the Grand Master, M.W. Richard Maggio

Today (March 23rd), Governor Baker ordered all non-essential businesses closed through April 7th. This order is effective on Tuesday, March 24th at 12:00pm. UPDATE: This order was extended through May 4th on March 31st.

I have closed the Grand Lodge offices in accordance with the Governor’s mandate. Security will remain on site to monitor our building.

Our staff is prepared to do the best they can to provide you with service remotely – most of our personnel will be working from home. Email addresses for our staff members can be found on our website. Should you require personal assistance (because the office is closed), please contact your Worshipful Master or District Deputy Grand Master. They can advise you on who can address your concerns and needs.

All Lodge communications should be cancelled through April 7th. As this is fluid, we will keep you updated as things change. Lodges should send an email and/or a letter to my office, noting the meetings that have been cancelled due to COVID-19. No formal dispensations will be issued – you may assume you have it for all pandemic related cancellations.

It is imperative that we continue to demonstrate Masonic values in our daily lives. Follow Reason, and use common sense. Support your members and their families, especially our oldest, and those with compromised health. Please call them – help by picking up their prescriptions, or getting their groceries so they do not have to leave their homes. This is an opportunity for us all to be a calming voice to our brethren who need it the most during these trying times.

We will get through this, and we will be more grateful for many things we may have previously taken for granted. Stay healthy, and stay safe.
